ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਸਿਸਟਮ ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਸਿਸਟਮ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹਾਰਡਵੇਅਰ (Hardware) ਅਤੇ ਸਾਫਟਵੇਅਰ (Software) ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ ਡਾਟਾ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੋਸੈਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਨਤੀਜਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

A Computer System is a combination of Hardware and Software. It processes the given data and provides results.

ਹਾਰਡਵੇਅਰ (Hardware)	ਸਾਫਟਵੇਅਰ (Software)
ਇਹ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੇ ਉਹ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਂ ਛੂਹ (Touch) ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।	ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੂਹ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਂ ਛੂਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਉਦਾਹਰਨ: ਮਾਨੀਟਰ, ਕੀਬੋਰਡ, ਮਾਊਸ।	ਉਦਾਹਰਨ: ਪੇਂਟ (Paint), ਵਿੰਡੋਜ਼ (Windows), ਗੇਮਾਂ।

Hardware	Software
Physical parts of computer that we can touch.	Set of programs that we cannot touch.
Ex: Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse.	Ex: Paint, Windows, Games.

3. ਬੂਟਿੰਗ ਕੀ ਹੈ? (What is Booting?)

ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਲੂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਓਪਰੇਟਿੰਗ ਸਿਸਟਮ ਦੇ ਲੋਡ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਬੂਟਿੰਗ (Booting) ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

• 🥶 Cold Booting: ਜਦੋਂ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਚਲਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
• 🥵 Warm Booting: ਜਦੋਂ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਰੀਸਟਾਰਟ (Restart) ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The process of loading the Operating System when we turn on the computer is called Booting.

• 🥶 Cold Booting: Starting computer from off state.
• 🥵 Warm Booting: Restarting the computer.

4. ਡੈਸਕਟਾਪ (Desktop)

ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਚਾਲੂ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਜੋ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਸਕ੍ਰੀਨ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸਨੂੰ ਡੈਸਕਟਾਪ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਭਾਗ ਹਨ:

5. ਓਪਰੇਟਿੰਗ ਸਿਸਟਮ (Operating System)

ਇਹ ਯੂਜ਼ਰ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਹਾਰਡਵੇਅਰ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਪੁਲ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

• GUI (Graphical User Interface): ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ (ਜਿਵੇਂ Windows)। ਇਹ ਵਰਤਣਾ ਸੌਖਾ ਹੈ।
• CUI (Character User Interface): ਲਿਖ ਕੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ (ਜਿਵੇਂ DOS)।

It acts as a bridge between user and computer hardware.

• GUI: Uses graphics (e.g. Windows). Easy to use.
• CUI: Uses commands (e.g. DOS).
