1. What is Information Technology (IT)?
ਇਨਫੋਰਮੇਸ਼ਨ ਟੈਕਨੋਲੋਜੀ (IT) ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਯੰਤਰ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ (Information) ਨੂੰ ਬਣਾਉਣ, ਸਟੋਰ ਕਰਨ, ਅਤੇ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵਰਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਅੱਜ ਦਾ ਯੁੱਗ IT ਦਾ ਯੁੱਗ ਹੈ।

Information Technology (IT) includes all technologies used to create, store, and exchange information. The modern era is known as the Era of IT.

Website (ਵੈੱਬਸਾਈਟ)
ਇੱਕ ਜਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਵੈੱਬ ਪੇਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਨੂੰ ਵੈੱਬਸਾਈਟ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਵੈੱਬਸਾਈਟ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਪੇਜ ਨੂੰ Home Page ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
A collection of related web pages is called a Website. The main page is called the Home Page.
Surfing vs Searching
Surfing: ਇੱਕ ਵੈੱਬਸਾਈਟ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਜੀ 'ਤੇ ਜਾਣਾ (ਮਜ਼ੇ ਲਈ)।
Searching: ਕੋਈ ਖਾਸ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਲੱਭਣਾ (ਜਿਵੇਂ Google 'ਤੇ)।

Surfing: Moving from one site to another (exploring).

Online (ਆਨਲਾਈਨ)
ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਇੰਟਰਨੈੱਟ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਉਦਾਹਰਣ: ਵੈੱਬਸਾਈਟ ਦੇਖਣਾ, ਚੈਟ ਕਰਨਾ।
When we are connected to the Internet. Example: Browsing, Chatting.
Offline (ਆਫਲਾਈਨ)
ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਇੰਟਰਨੈੱਟ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੁੜੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ। ਉਦਾਹਰਣ: ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਡਾਊਨਲੋਡ ਕੀਤੀ ਫਾਈਲ ਪੜ੍ਹਨਾ।
When we are NOT connected to the Internet. Example: Reading a downloaded file.

[Image of online shopping]- Net Banking: ਇੰਟਰਨੈੱਟ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਬੈਂਕ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨਾ (ਪੈਸੇ ਭੇਜਣਾ, ਬਿੱਲ ਭਰਨਾ)। ਇਸਨੂੰ 'ਸਾਈਬਰ ਬੈਂਕਿੰਗ' ਵੀ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
- Online Shopping: ਇੰਟਰਨੈੱਟ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਘਰ ਬੈਠੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਖਰੀਦਣਾ। ਇਸਨੂੰ E-Commerce ਵੀ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
- Downloading: ਇੰਟਰਨੈੱਟ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਾਈਲ ਸੇਵ ਕਰਨਾ।
- Online Results: ਰੋਲ ਨੰਬਰ ਭਰ ਕੇ ਬੋਰਡ ਜਾਂ ਸਕੂਲ ਦਾ ਨਤੀਜਾ ਦੇਖਣਾ।
- Net Banking: Managing bank account online. Also called 'Cyber Banking' or 'Virtual Banking'.
- Online Shopping: Buying goods from home using internet. Also called E-Commerce.
- Downloading: Saving a file from the internet to your computer.
- Online Results: Checking exam results by entering roll number on a website.
